My blog has been kinda dead lately and I'm gonna blame it on my Korea trip.
BUT I'M BACKKKKKKK.
I went to South Korea with my parents and brother for 11 days
and I just arrived in SG on 23 Dec.
It's really great to be back, where I can wear shorts and a shirt
outside without freezing my ass off.
Actually only my hands were cold most of the time la.
My gloves like not much use one lol.
I will be posting about my trip in the following days,
and hopefully some videos on my Youtube channel that has nothing currently.
The trip was a free and easy one that was planned by me with a little help from my bro.
Our schedule wasn't very packed and we didn't visit many places in a day.
Many aspects of the trip can be improved.
Here are some tips that might be useful:
1. DO NOT SLEEP IN
It was winter and the weather was perfect for sleeping in instead of going out into the cold.
We slept in almost everyday and only got out at around 11+ am, which is considered late because if you go on tours, they would have you assembled at the lobby at perhaps 8am.
This means that we missed out 3 hours worth of exploring more places for a few days.
2. DO NOT THINK OF SLEEPING JUST BECAUSE THE SUN HAS SET
The sun sets early during Winter and it was nightfall around 5:30pm everyday.
For a few days, we would head back to the guest house after it got dark and we would reach around 8 or 9pm.
Perhaps we could have gone to a noraebang (something like Karaoke) or a jimjilbang to relax.
3. BOOK ONLINE WHENEVER YOU CAN
Nanta performance tickets, shuttle buses, whatever can be booked online, do it.
It's best if you have a Korean friend who can help, or if the receptionists at the hotel you are staying at can help.
Booking online means that you can enjoy discounts and offers, and we learnt the lesson the hard way when we watched the Nanta performance.
4. STICK TO YOUR SCHEDULE
I didn't have the discipline to stick to the schedule I had planned before embarking on the trip because we tend to wake up late and spend too much time at one place.
That's not a bad thing though, because we get to explore the places we have been to more thoroughly instead of just taking a photo and rushing off to the next location.
But then again, we might have been able to visit more places if we had followed what was planned more closely.
Maybe those of you who are more experienced can share with me your tips! :)
This trip has been a good experience for me in terms of wandering around by ourselves in a foreign land as well as honing my planning skills.
I acknowledge my blunders and inexperience and I hope to do better next time.
Let me just rant a little alright.
To be honest I get a little frustrated when they tell me "How come you don't know this or that, you're supposed to be the tour guide" or "Why don't you understand Korean, you're our tour guide".
I might be the one planning the trip, but hey it's my first time planning and I could use a little guidance along the way you know.
Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed and I just needed a little help.
Just because I've been to Korea on a school trip 2 years ago doesn't mean I know the place
as though I've been living there for years.
Okay done with my ranting.
I'm still grateful to be able to go on this trip.
Despite the unhappy moments at times, there were many happier moments and I had lots of fun.
Thank you mum and dad for giving us the opportunity to have this experience!
South Korea is a beautiful country, but I gotta say some people
aren't very aware of other people around them.
I can't even keep track of the number of times when people just walked straight into me
at the subway as though they couldn't see me.
at the subway as though they couldn't see me.
I can understand that perhaps they were rushing to get to somewhere
but it gets annoying when you are constantly getting bumped into.
The least that these people could do is to watch where they're going or acknowledge that they have bumped into someone instead of pretending nothing happened.
That said, we have also met friendly Koreans who were really helpful and I'll mention them in my posts along the way.
Hope you'll have fun reading about my trip.
Merry Christmas to all my readers and thank you for reading!
Peekture of my Christmas tree hehe.
With love,
Minnee
