Heyy I'm back! It's been a while since I last blogged, I'm a lazy girl as we all know haha! So today I finally decided to blog about the first beauty pageant I joined!
Ok la actually it's not the first if you count this makeover photogenic contest I joined as a kid.. but I didn't win anything back then haha and no photos to show too.
So now I'm desperately trying to finish my sushi for dinner as I type. Too full already I can't finish! If I finish by the time I finish this post I will tell you ok! Pinky promise.
Ok let's see. Let's start from the beginning yeah? I foresee a long grandmother story but I shall try to keep it short ya~
The Auditions - April
SO I DECIDED TO JOIN. I learnt about it while reading Teenage magazine and I was kinda interested haha. To be honest I wasn't really sure about it. I thought about it for a loooong time and I asked so many people for their opinions and whether they think I should try it. My BFFs all said I should join and it was like some internal struggle. I wanted to join but I didn't wanna affect my studies and I was afraid my family would treat it like a normal competition I joined with Revel then they won't really care much. But in the end I decided to just try for the auditions and if I didn't get in it would be okay. So I went for the audition... alone.
I was so lonely. I went straight after school that day and nobody could make it because their lessons ended late. I sat there waiting alone and it was such a painful wait because I didn't really feel like talking to people. I just stared at my phone, facebooking and twittering and instagraming. I felt so bored that I didn't even feel nervous. I had my photoshoot before going in and when I got into the room that's when I was like 'OMG what have I gotten myself into sia'.
The audition was held at a blackbox in RP. When I got in Mag and Lavonne (I didn't know their names at that time) were sitting in the middle of the room. There were too people standing at each corner behind them, one video-ing and one taking photos I think. They didn't look at me till I sat down, then the interview started. It was introducing myself, my hobbies, how my friends would describe me, why I joined, what I like about the magazine, and it was a lot like casual talk but I was super nevous and tired from all the waiting haha. I think I was really awkward, giving awkward laughs and stuff. Then to end it off I had to do a catwalk. Omg I tell you, it was horrible. The wooden floor creaks when I walk on it and it made me cringe with every step when I walked to the starting point. So when I started my catwalk I think I looked pretty much like a burglar entering a house. Ok la not that bad but I was making an effort not to making those squeaky noises! And with that I left. With a heavy heart. I felt so awful that when they interviewed me and kept asking me to repeat in full sentences I felt kinda irritated. And then halfway through the interview this standee thing almost fell on me and I almost died *touchwood* haha and my shocked expression was caught on camera lol. And all these while Shermaine was waiting for me at the MRT cuz she came to find me after she ended school haha. Love her to bits. And I started telling everyone how badly I did for the auditions and how I wouldn't be able to get in.
Semi-finals - May
SO I GOT INTO SEMI-FINALS. I was waiting for the email from Teenage. I waited and waited. My hair went grey and I grew old. Hahaha no la haven't celebrated my birthday when the news came in so not older yet. I still remember it was after CCA that day and I saw the email and I was so eggcited I was squealing and telling the whole world hahaha. Like a crazy girl.
SO I GOT INTO SEMI-FINALS. I was waiting for the email from Teenage. I waited and waited. My hair went grey and I grew old. Semi-finals was when I finally made friends. *phew finally* This was when I got to know Brice, Iffah and Mandi. It was an amazing race held in running man style around Bugis Junction. My partner was Hanis and it was so cool because we clicked together the moment we met. I blogged about Semi-finals in my previous post so you can read more about it if you're interested haha!

Pre-finals - 1st June
I received notification that I got into finals and so we had to go for the pre-finals activity. It was a day for us to bond and get to know the other finalists. We learnt a bit of freestyle soccer (like doing stunts with the ball) and it was so fun! We took a bus back to office for the bodyshop workshop and it was so sad I couldn't stay for the makeover and photoshoot cuz I had ballet performance that day. That's why I'm not in the July issue and my photo for Finals was reused from the one taken during the auditions. A regret that I have for this contest :(

On Finals itself we were at the venue at 9am for a rehearsal on how to come out during the actual thing. After that we spent hours waiting for our turn to do our hair and makeup. Our theme was poofy hair and dolly makeup haha! Lucky my hair was ok! It was done by William from Xpect Studio.

Half an hour before it started I went to the toilet with my phone. I thought I left it there and I was panicking and everything and I was feeling so down! I was running from the dressing room to the stage and asking people if they have seen my phone in the toilet.Then a few people from the Teenage team were helping me find my phone and I was totally in no mood to do anything. Rachel came to support me and she helped me ask the information counter while I kept calling my phone with Mandi's phone. And then I don't know why but I decided to go into the changing room to search my pile of clothes on the floor. AND I FOUND MY PHONE. It was so epic I ran and tell the girl from the team who went to the toilet to help me find my phone omg I am so muddle-headed HAHAHA. Super thankful to them la and super sorry I sent them panicking with me at such a busy time.

It was my turn really soon even though I was F-12 and there were about 22 people before me. I was freaking out behind the cloth covering the entrance to the stage and the hair stylist was like laughing at me sia haha. Totally not gorgeous. But when I went out I had to just do it. I only had one chance to do it well! My answers during the interview was really shallow in my opinion :( but my mum said I was clear when I spoke into the mic and perhaps the way I carried myself on stage from performing experiences helped a lot. When I did my dance I almost lost my footing and I walked a few extra steps like a drunkard haha. Hopefully it wasn't too obvious lolol.

I was having so much fun backstage afterwards, being bimbo with Wen Hui hahaha. The moment I stepped backstage I was totally relaxed cuz it was over! I think I tried my best and it was less scary than I thought since the judges were really far away hehe. I talked to more people and I made morr friends and it was such an amazing night. When it was time for results I was really nervous again! Standing there and smiling all the way was a torture hahaha my face was like cramping and my cheeks were shaking LOL. The first time I went up to receive the award for Ms Swensational I was so happy la! I was happy enough that I at least got an award haha. And when the MC announced F-12 for winner... I was like totally shocked sia! Like whattt. I actually got first omg. Really can't put the feeling into words. Everyone stood an equally good chance and I think I was just lucky haha. Thank you everyone for coming down, and thank you Rachel and Jiayi so much for cheering and screaming your lungs out haha love you girls ♥

After-thoughts
I'm really thankful for all the support shown by my family and friends throughout this whole journey. My parents and my aunt and uncle spent days sleeping late because they were busy helping me ask family and friends and colleagues to vote for me. And they would screenshot replied from people and send it to me haha! And the night before I left for a trip to Malaysia, me and Kenji stayed up to fb msg our fb friends one by one, asking them to vote for me too. So did my ex-tuition friend haha. It was so nice of everyone and I'm thankful that their hardwork paid off when I received the award! I really wanna thank my whole family for helping out, including those in Malaysia. And of course my friends from the competition for being part of this wonderful memory. Love yall loads! ♥

What's in store for me now? I guess it's back to my studies! Taking a break from joining contests cuz it's really lots of work and it can be very tiring at times haha. If you're reading this and thinking of joining, an advice from me would be to set your priorities properly. Make sure you know the timeline of the competition approximately and that it won't clash with your school exam or test period. Talk to your family about it, make sure you have their support. Support from your family is really important.
Okay really long post, I hope your nose didn't bleed from all those pretty photos HAHA! Ok Minnee stop it that's so shameless. Sorry about the grammar and spelling errors and if there is any part that sounds funny pls comment or text me about it so I can edit it because I am so tired phew. If you're still wondering about the fate of my dinner I told my bro to come and finish the sushi off while typing this haha so they are GONE. Whooop! Okiee shall go do some work before I sleep! Nahh I decided to just go and sleep after typing that. It's a great feeling to have won, but ultimately we are all winners to have come this far. It was a really great experience gained with lots of new friends made along the way. Kudos to everyone, the Teenage team and the sponsors! Will miss everyone loads! :)
