Out and About

REJOICE!!!
Tests are over (for now)!

It's Youth Day today and we were chilling at a café called
Selfish Gene Café

Stepping in, this café gives off a vibe that made me feel at home.
It has a simple interior with earthy hues, nothing too flashy.

I really liked how the place is lit up by natural light by this:

It fondly reminds me of my grandparents' house in Malaysia, where I spent part of my childhood.
Bonus points for more homely feel!

This is the counter where customers place their orders.
Wondering why the café is named "Selfish Gene"?
Look closely at the picture for the answer!

I was greeted by this pretty chalk art feature wall when I turned around from my seat. :)

And now, the nom-noms!

Bagel & Smoked Salmon
I was up for some salmon action today so I ordered Bagel & Smoked Salmon.
I really loved it.
Just blogging about this makes me hungry again -_-

Btw that is not tofu, it's cream cheese. Lol.

The Valerie
My friend Rachel ordered The Valerie. LOL.
This one is a little sweet for me with all the berry compote, probably because I was having smoked salmon before I tried this.
It actually came with scrambled eggs instead of mushrooms, but you can request for mushrooms instead.

Beef Sandwich
The beef sandwich was not bad too!

Smoked Salmon Tartine Sandwich
Both salmon dishes cost 13 bucks, we just ordered different ones to try.

Lime Barley
I ordered lime barley, which is on the special menu that I think changes everyday.
It's refreshing, and the price of $5 is quite reasonable for a café drink.
But I feel that it's something that can be easily replicated at home.

I really enjoyed my dining experience at Selfish Gene Café.
The food is really good and affordable for café-goers, ranging from $5-$15.

Afterwards, we walked around and this bookshop called Littered With Books caught our eyes.

It's a double-storey shophouse that's filled with books, and when we entered, we were welcomed by the lovely smell of books.
We spent a really long time browsing through their vast collection and relishing the relaxing atmosphere.

I bought myself an Agatha Christie book!
Her crime novels are really intriguing and I love them loads.

CAN'T WAIT TO READ ITTTTTTT!

And you know what? The world is so freaking small that we met 5 RVians today.
Met Shermaine at Outram MRT, 2 at the bookshop and another 2 when we came out!
世界很小 hor??!!

Here's today's coordinates! ^^

If you're wondering why I have such pretty photos for this post,
it's because I finally have the opportunity to use my new Samsung NX Mini camera!

No points for guessing the colour, because I am faithful to pink.

My new precious <3 <3 <3

I got it during the June holidays but I didn't have time to go out and snap pretty pics. :(
So far, I'm really happy with it.
A big THANK YOU to my parents for getting me my new camera! :D

That's all for this post, thank you for reading! ^^
