Halloween Special: Egyptian Princess Make-up Tutorial

Harrooooo! Halloween is around the corner, and so is PW Oral Presentation.
Guess what?
This year's Halloween is gonna be a real terror to me cuz my OP day is on Halloween.
Cool huh? No.

I've never been to trick-or-treating before, and neither have I been to Halloween Horror events.
Yes I live under a rock.

I decided that I should have some fun (alone and at home :/) before PW and Halloween is over so....

Tadaaaa~ I (tried to) transform myself into an ancient Egyptian princess! LOL.

Ok first I gotta tell you about my obsession with ancient Egypt:

I AM OBSESSED WITH ANCIENT EGYPT.

I totally love ancient Egypt, ever since I was a kid.
The movie "The Mummy Returns" was so cool that I had dreams of being an ancient Egyptian Princess in my past life after watching that movie HAHAHA.
I would spent days pouring over books about ancient Egyptian culture and reading online about them.
That was how crazy I was.

So I decided to use Halloween as an excuse (after so long) to satisfy my secret (not anymore) desire of being an Egyptian Princess HAHA.

But to be honest I think I don't really look like one? I don't know. :/
The colours I have are limited luhh.
Anyway I tried to look as similar to an ancient Egyptian (at the very least) as possible le so please don't be so harsh on me.
And because it's Halloween I guess I have the right to scare you LOL.

Here are the steps to create this look! It's my first time doing a makeup tutorial haha I tried my best!

Step 1: Eyeliner

I followed the curve of my eyelids and extended the line slightly near the end of my brow.
The line should be thick and the tip should be square-ish like this, and you can add a sharp edge to the inner corner of your eye.

When you open your eyes they should look like this:

I used RedEarth's Classic Line Kohl Eyeliner, 01 Coal.

Step 2: Eyeshadow

Apply yellow eyeshadow to the lower part of your lid and use dark blue above it. Apply another layer of yellow at the corner.
After applying the yellow eyeshadow, brush a layer of gold glittery eyeshadow over it.

From left to right:
Essence Eyeshadow, 17 Hot Spot (yellow)
Essence Eyeshadow, 24 Love Me (gold glitter)
Fasio Eyecolour, BL-4 (I used the 2nd shade from the right)

I googled images of ancient Egyptian make up before trying on my own and I realised that most of the colour combination for eyeshadow used are blue and yellow/gold.
The blue used can be really bright too, but since I don't have it I'll just use what I have haha.

Sigh, most of my eyeshadows are neutral shades of brown or yellow.
 I prefer more natural colours~

Anyway, let's move on!

 Step 3: Mascara

After you're done with the eyeshadow, you can curl your lashes and apply mascara.
I also filled in the "gaps" in my brows and made them longer, because the look is supposed to be more bold.

Step 4: Lips

Mac Lipstick, Crème D'Nude

For the lipstick, I went with a neutral colour after using concealer as a base to make my lips paler.
After that, I applied gold glitter eyeshadow on the middle of my upper and lower lips to create a "bronzy" feel.

You can draw the Egyptian eye (the design below my right eye) on one eye.
It actually has many positive symbolism in the Egyptian culture. Cool huh!
So anyway I tried both eyes and it looked way too weird. So from personal experience, just one side is good enough!
Because I don't have bangs, I "decorated" my forehead with a gold and white ribbon.
As for the blush, I applied bronzer slightly below my cheeks because I feel more Egyptian that way lolol.
Basically the focus should be on your eyes, because that's the unique part of an Egyptian look.

And there you have it, an Egyptian look for Halloween woohoo!!

Show you the camera I used hahaha! Finally dug it out after many many years lolol.
Right profile~

Left profile~
Bow down to the Princess of Ancient Egypt! LOL jkjk haha.

Okay please don't flame me cuz this "Egyptian Princess" has blue eyes.
I didn't mean it ahhhh cuz I just started using this blue one and I didn't wanna open another pair of brown monthly contacts and waste it.
Btw, I'm using my sponsored Freshkon monthly contacts, Glittering Blue from the Sparklers series.

Yay and that's the end of my quick make up tutorial on how to be an Egyptian Princess for Halloween!
Please pardon my cui face cuz I had to wake up mega early this morn to send my dad off at the airport haha.
Ok la anyway don't need to smile de lor, cuz princess mah, fierce a bit then got aura.
LOL ok I'm crapping don't mind me.

Hao la, gotta go do PW stuff le! Being a full time PW student now lol.
Hope yall liked my tutorial! :)))

11 October 2013

Finally a lil break from pw! It's driving me nuts when I detest something so much and yet can't get it out of my life so I have no choice but to embrace it.

Project work made me realise how hard it is to make a decision between studies and something you like doing. Welp, the conclusion is that I'm not gonna forgo my studies for modelling, although it's a pity.
I'm gonna work hard to get an A for pw so I won't regret! :)

Met up with Rach today to support Joyee's (and Cheryl's) performance at Esplanade Recital Studio, and I had so much fun with Rach I can't wait for our next meet-up again :) This post will be filled with lots of photos cuz peektures speak a thousand words^^
